InstaDesk Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
What InstaDesk stores, and where
Everything the extension saves lives on your own computer, in Chrome’s local extension storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
| Data | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Tool settings (ad blocker, ghost mode, mobile view, video controls) | Remember your preferences | Local browser storage |
| Hashtag collections and saved DM replies | Content you created for reuse | Local browser storage |
| Scheduled posts, including the photo or video files | So a scheduled post can be published later | Local browser storage (IndexedDB); deleted once published or cancelled |
| A snapshot of your follower list (usernames and ids) | To tell you who unfollowed you since the last scan | Local browser storage; overwritten on each scan |
| Paid status, and any free uses left on installs from before 2.1 | To know whether Pro tools are unlocked | Local browser storage |
| Activity log | So you can always see what InstaDesk has done on your account | Local browser storage; capped, and cleared when you clear it |
| Grow account settings and history — the hashtags you chose, and the posts it liked or accounts it followed | To enforce the hourly and daily limits, avoid acting on the same post twice, and show you the record | Local browser storage; history is discarded after 24 hours |
Uninstalling the extension removes all of it. You can also clear it any time from
chrome://extensions.
Your Instagram account
InstaDesk acts inside your browser as you. When you publish a post, download a file or scan your followers, the request goes from your browser straight to Instagram using the session cookie already in it. InstaDesk never sees, stores or transmits your Instagram password, and it cannot access your account when your browser is closed.
We never collect your posts, messages, followers, viewing history or any other Instagram data. Follower scans happen on your machine and the results stay there.
The outside services involved
| Service | What it receives | When |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram (instagram.com, cdninstagram.com, fbcdn.net) | The same requests your browser would normally make, plus the actions you ask for | Whenever you use a tool. Governed by Instagram’s own privacy policy. |
| Apple iTunes Search API | Only the text you type into music search | Only while you are searching for a song. No account data is sent. |
| InstaDesk configuration file | Nothing. The request asks for a static JSON file and sends no information about you. | Occasionally, to check whether the list of Instagram endpoints the extension uses has changed. Configuration data only — no code is downloaded or run. |
| ExtensionPay / Stripe | Your email address and payment details, entered on their pages | Only if you choose to buy Pro. Card details go directly to Stripe — InstaDesk never sees them. |
What we do not do
- No analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels or crash reporting.
- No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data with anyone.
- No automated following, unfollowing, liking or commenting on your behalf. Bot detection is read-only and never removes a follower for you.
- No account access without you present — nothing runs unless an Instagram tab is open.
Children
InstaDesk is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the new version ships alongside the extension update that made the change necessary.
